About Us

At Spurling Design, we believe that architecture should be a reflection of the people who inhabit it. Our approach is centered around creating spaces that serve both the practical needs and imaginative visions of our clients. We view great architecture as a harmonious blend of history, innovation, and technology, always attuned to the lifestyle of those who will call it home.

We believe that successful design is the result of solid collaboration—between architect, client, consultant, and builder—working together to bring a shared vision to life.

Vision

Our vision is to make good architecture attainable for all, to make comfortable, delightful built environments that have meaning and serve the whole person: body, mind, and soul.

Mission

We will demonstrate the advantages of fully investigating all parameters, all dreams, and all constraints to develop a wholesome design that fully addresses the needs of the occupants while saying something about the occupants—producing the beautiful, functional, and sublime.

Architecture with Purpose and Integrity

At Spurling Design, we see structures as more than just walls and roofs—they have character and energy that speak to the people who use them. We are passionate about structural integrity and love demonstrating how well-built systems come together to support lasting, meaningful spaces. We actively seek out projects that contribute to the public good and our environment, aligning with clients who share these goals—whether it’s a community-based building or a home designed with sustainability in mind.

About Jeri Spurling:
Sculpting Spaces for Life

Jeri Spurling has a unique ability to sculpt space, using floors, ceilings, walls, and light to create solutions that are perfectly aligned with the fabric of the lives they serve. With a deep understanding of design, she creates environments that feel integral to daily life, making them both functional and inspiring.

Jeri holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Carnegie-Mellon University (1980) and became a licensed architect in Maine in 2006. She earned her Well Accredited Professional credentials in 2023 and is an active member of the Maine Indoor Air Quality Council. She takes pride in developing a proven system for mold remediation.

Beyond her architectural work, Jeri is passionate about community service. She serves on the Cranberry Isles Realty Trust, a nonprofit focused on affordable year-round housing, and is also a member of the Cranberry Isles Community Solar Association. Jeri’s humanitarian efforts extend internationally, as she has led mission teams to design and build vital structures in the Dominican Republic, including a school, church, dormitory, and health care center, over the past 25 years.

How Jeri Works

The programming phase is crucial to a successful project. When done right, Jeri often arrives at a design solution on the first attempt. She works quickly to identify the best approach and then provides 3D renderings early in the process, giving clients the clarity and control they need to make informed decisions.
